Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 September 2026
The short version: MixTube is a music player. It reads the audio files on your device so it can play them, and it keeps your playlists and settings on your device. We do not ask you to create an account.
Who this applies to
This policy covers the MixTube Android application and the website at mixtube.io. By using either, you agree to the practices described here.
Information the app accesses
MixTube needs access to certain things on your device to work as a music player:
- Audio files and media storage. The app reads the music stored on your device so it can list and play it. This is the core function of the app.
- Playlists, favourites and settings. Playlists you create, tracks you mark as favourites, your equalizer settings and similar preferences are stored on your device.
- Notifications. Used to show playback controls while music is playing.
Information collected automatically
Like most mobile applications, MixTube may collect limited technical information such as device model, operating system version, app version, and crash or diagnostic reports. This is used to identify and fix problems and to understand which features are used. Where third-party services are used for analytics, advertising or crash reporting, those services collect information under their own privacy policies.
Advertising
MixTube may display advertisements. Advertising providers may use device identifiers to serve and measure ads. You can limit ad personalisation through your Android device settings, under Google settings for ads.
How information is used
- To provide the music player and its features
- To diagnose crashes and improve stability and performance
- To understand which features people use, so the app can be improved
- To display advertising where applicable
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Information may be shared with service providers who help operate the app, such as analytics, crash reporting and advertising providers, and where required by law.
Your music stays yours
The audio files on your device are not uploaded to us. MixTube reads them locally so it can play them.
Children
MixTube is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided information, please contact us and we will remove it.
Your choices
- Permissions. Storage and media access can be revoked at any time in your Android settings, though the app cannot play your local music without it.
- Local data. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling it removes the playlists, favourites and settings stored on your device.
- Ad personalisation. Can be limited in your device's Google settings.
Data retention
Playlists, favourites and settings remain on your device until you clear the app's data or uninstall it. Technical and diagnostic information held by our service providers is retained according to their own policies.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information handled by the app. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the revised policy.
